Our philosophy didn’t come from trends — it was born from lived experience, scientific research, and a deep connection with nature. Understanding what inspired us is understanding why we do what we do. Here’s what shaped our path.
Hemp Vegan grew out of a lineage. Before the brand had a name, there was Linha Canabica — a hands-on effort to open access to cannabis and dissolve stigma through simple, vegan, plant-based products. That early work set our compass: access, dignity, clarity.
More than a decade ago, our founder, Bárbara Arranz, a biomedical professional and mother of three, began searching for supportive options for her son, who had an autism spectrum diagnosis (Asperger’s). The search led to the therapeutic potential of cannabis. It also led to a wall of taboo, scarcity of reliable information, and regulatory barriers that made compassionate choices hard.
Faced with that reality, she chose to learn, to ask better questions, and to move forward responsibly — prioritizing her family’s well-being while advocating for clearer, fairer pathways for everyone.
From the very beginning, the goal wasn’t just product — it was conversation. We heard stories from families and patients who needed language, evidence, and respect more than they needed hype. We learned that demystifying cannabis, batch by batch and dialogue by dialogue, can open doors to understanding and, sometimes, relief.
In Brazil, access has historically been constrained by law and stigma. That environment forced hard choices and demanded courage. Those early years taught us two enduring lessons: that compassion sometimes precedes regulation, and that the long path to legitimacy requires persistence, documentation, and open engagement with regulators and the public.
To build a sustainable, compliant future, we transitioned operations, sought clearer regulatory frameworks, and invested in the boring, essential work: R&D, COAs, SOPs, training, and lab readiness. These are the unglamorous foundations of trust. Hemp Vegan was born in this phase — carrying the heart of Linha Canabica, now with the structure to scale our standards.
While parts of the world race to isolate compounds for purely economic ends, we remain committed to the integrity of full-spectrum profiles when appropriate, and to the autonomy of the individual. People — their contexts, goals, and safety — are the center of our decisions.
Access isn’t only a supply-chain question — it’s a knowledge question. We publish batch COAs, explain spectrum types, and encourage “start low, go slow.” We invite clinicians, researchers, and customers into the conversation because better understanding is better care.
We’re guests on this planet. Wild harvest (when used) follows seasons and quotas; protected species and sensitive habitats are off-limits. We prefer organic practices, short ingredient lists, and gentle extractions. Sustainability is not a marketing angle — it’s a boundary we operate within.
It’s often said — and frequently attributed to Albert Einstein — that it may be easier to split an atom than to dismantle prejudice. Whether or not the quote’s attribution is precise, the sentiment is true. Stigma is stubborn. Patience, clear evidence, and everyday dignity are how we chip away at it.
We are here because people shared their stories, trusted us with their hopes, and held us to a high standard. To everyone who stayed through the learning curves and the long nights — thank you. Your trust is not a trophy; it’s a responsibility.
Hemp Vegan is a continuation: of a mother’s resolve, a community’s courage, and a team’s commitment to do the quiet work right. We’ll keep building a company that treats people with respect, treats nature with care, and treats the truth with honesty.
